FQS Bella Parade : Season 2 : Post # 9

Bella Solids Orchid
Today's color of the day is Orchid! I'm pretty fond of this one - it's soft and pretty.

1. DQS11, NY Beauty label, 2. For the Love of Solids Swap- in progress 3, 3. Easy Circles Workshop, 4.Mug Rug for ??, 5. Pretty Little Pouch Front, 6. Sneak peak, 7. DQS10 stitching, 8. table runner, 9. Free Spirit quilt complete, full view
I love the versatility of this color - it can go from soft and subtle, to vibrant and fun!

There are so many beautiful projects using this color. Solids and half square triangles, paired with lots of purples and pinks or brightened up with vibrant greens and blues! I especially love that Orchid tends to leave a project with a more "pretty" feeling than most purples do.

Here's the bundle that I would pair with Orchid: Graphite, Berrylicious, and Aqua. The colors go so well together, and I'd love to punch it up with some simple and complex prints.

The subtle color of orchid seems to pair well with slightly more vibrant fabrics. The contrast between orchid and berrylicious is really beautiful.

For today's FMQ sample I chose one of my favorite designs - pebble/bubble quilting. I love pebble quilting - keep in mind that it will use up a lot of thread (especially if you like the sketchy look of going around each pebble two or three times). Pebble quilting is great for filling in small areas; it's also great covering an entire quilt (if you have the time and thread to do it!). I love varying the thread color every bobbin or so for a more varied look (like on this quilt).

Now here's your chance to win a yard of Orchid! Here's how:

1. Create a pinboard with the name "FQS Bella Parade : Season 2"
2. Pin at least one image with the "Color of the Day" onto the board. The image has to be sewing related. Notions, sewing rooms, finished products anything.
3. Leave a comment with a link to your board.
4. The winners will be selected randomly and announced in the weekend giveaway post.
5. All entries will qualify to win the Bella Solids 2012 Fat Quarter Bundle in the weekly giveaway.
6. Pin it! And you could win it!

  7. Your pebble quilting is awesome! I guess I need to practice up on this since I really love the look, but I'm not so good at it.

Orchid does look great, but it's a bit trick to find...
