Bella Solids Citrine |
Today's color is vibrant and sunny! Citrine is a nice bright yellow without being too harsh. It's definitely a happy color!

There's so much that you can do with a nice bright yellow - pair it with white and other vibrant colors like Tara did in photo 9, or go primary like the Donna did in the first image. I adore this color when paired with grey (I have a whole pinterest board dedicated to it!) Citrine is also really fabulous when paired with a softer blue. Regardless of what you pair it with you're sure to end up with a project that looks quite happy!

For this fabric bundle I decided to lean in a much more vibrant direction - lots of bold color and a subtle grey (bella platinum) to ground it all! I think citrine goes really nicely with the "Quilt Blocks" fabric line. I could imagine using this bright color palate for a cool quilt in a child's room. Bold and fun, but not too childish.
Whoa. were you ready for that one? lol. Last night I realized that I had not yet quilted this color... so I gathered inspiration from my FMQ pinterst board, and also reviewed my "notes" from when Jacquie talked at our guild meeting (her quilting is amazing!). Then I got quilting!! I was humming along through the center two sections (using a TON of thread by the way), when I ran out of the Aurifil sample spool. So I switched over to another sample - in orange (that's as close as my thread stash would get me to the fuchsia I was working with). Well it was a lighter weight and my needle kept shredding it. I'm sure I could have done several other things, but instead I just switched over to a tried and true grey. Blah blah blah.
So the why this quilting? I'm really intrigued by the different types of quilting in each area, and it's almost like a zentangle if you think about it. Of course this would be harder to do all over a large quilt, but it would work nicely on a smaller project, or on a border etc. This is completely free hand, I just winged it. Some areas are better than others, but overall I'm really happy with it. I dare you to give it a try!

ReplyDeleteI'm actually not using a lot of that colour in my sewing projects, but I was actually sewing a pillow with beautifull fabrics from Riley Blake's Promenade collection in blue and yellow: http://pinterest.com/shapemoth/fqs-bella-parade-season-2/

This is definitely a bright and happy color! I love how you played around with the quilting. I need to take some time to do this (yet, I keep committing myself to other things like pattern testing... )
