FQS Bella Parade : Season 2 : Post # 11

Bella Solids Peacock
What a treat! Today's color is so beautiful! I could use peacock in everything that I sew! It's a very versitile blue that is slightly more aqua than most blues. Just like yesterday's color, it's a happy color! I dare you to sew with peacock and not be happy!

1. Simple Mug Rug 6 1/2 x 7 1/2 inches, 2. Beautiful hand stitching, 3. Vintage sheet quilt in progress, 4.Pillow Swap detail, 5. Three Upturned Fabric Bowls, 6. Girl on a Swing, 7. "Quilting Process" Pincusion back for Scrappy Pincushion Swap, 8. Nicey Jane hexies, 9. Urban Swap Gifts - Sent - Emmeline Apron and Trivet
It's easy to see that peacock would look great in numerous ways! I absolutely love it that first example, a mug rug made by Carol / mamacjt it's really put on display by pairing it with white and grey. It looks great paired with some varying greens as in the center photo by Jill. The crispness of peacock reminds me of the colors found in vintage linens.

What fabrics would I pair with peacock? These ones! I adore this bundle -- peacock, mustard, and berylicious frame out the prints. Bright, happy and intense! I can hardly keep myself from ordering all these fabrics! I'm a big fan of blue and yellow color palates, the pop that berrylicious makes the others shine that much more! On a side note, how cool are those butterflies? You could go a more monochromatic route by pairing peacock and those butterflies together. It would be pure happiness as well!

This is by far my favorite FMQ sample ever! I was inspired by this, that I'd pinned a while ago. I decided to push myself to try it. It's so amazing. I would have loved to do this with a really bright contrasting thread too! It kind of reminds me of this quilt by Tula Pink (I adore that quilt! -ps it appears that her site is having some troubles, so I linked to the pin... hopefully the website problems will be fixed soon enough). I like how fragmented it is, and I like that it's continuous like a stipple. I didn't have to stop and cut my threads every few minutes. No thread cutting means less thread trimming/burying! If you could touch this I'm sure you'd fall in love with it too. It's really great!
