A Quilter's Dream!

 Two things happened this weekend that would certainly fall under this title. 

First this happened: 

Three quilts in a row. Wally's quilt, my quilt, and Rosemarie's quilt
(Which she brought with her!)

My family was in town this weekend and There were air mattresses all around. On top of each one? A quilt!! All but one of them was made by me, and one of them was made by my Aunt Kathy (given to me when I was about 10). 

In the other room two more! My first ever quilt (t-shirt quilt), and one made by Aunt Kathy.

Pretty amazing right? I love the thought that my quilts kept them warm all weekend! :) 

Second: 

This evening before dinner, Wally called me in to the kitchen to see what Allie was playing. To our surprise she was playing "fabric store" with the paper towels (strange enough to have them in the house!). She rolled out a few lengths of towel, then used her two fingers in s scissor motion to "cut" (rip) them apart. Too cute! She kept talking about cutting fabric.... adorable!

So I looove making mosaics over at Big Huge Labs. I could entertain myself for days with it. I was thinking about all the pink things I've been making recently. Mostly because of the scraps from Ali's quilt I have laying around. Comparatively I had been making everything in purple a few weeks ago, because I'd just finished the string part of my purple string quilt, and had so many scraps of purple strings. And ultimately, ever since my Little folks Quilt, I've been so in love with grey that it's hard to make a single project without it. So here it is guys... My crafting in perspective of color.

Notice how the grey mosaic looks more disjointed than the others? Because grey is a neutral color, it makes the other colors really pop!

Lastly, look at the coolest thing I've ever made - ever!

She just turned two! I can't believe it! :)

The Little Folks Quilt!

It's finished! I'm so happy about how this quilt turned out! It's the first time I've taken the plunge and done free motion quilting on a regular sized quilt. It's also the largest quilt I've made to date (it'll fit a twin bed).

The fabric is from Anna Maria Horner's Little Folks line. The Violle worked up so beautifully. I was a little worried that it being a bit lighter weight than quilting cotton that it would bunch or something as I quilted it. That didn't happen at all! I'm very pleased at how it turned out. It's backed and sashed with Kona Cotton in Coal, and bound with AMH's Good Folks ... something in Dusk. :)

Now I'm just itching to make another! I have a bunch of the Little Folks left... (I was kinda stingy about cutting peices for this... wanting to hold on to all that fabric!). I'm not sure if I'll make another or something else. For now I'm very pleased; it's just perfect!

More embroidery...

Here's what I've been working on. I'm not sure yet, but I'm thinking of incorperating this into the back of this quilt.

 For the back I'm planning on doing Coal Kona cotton, with a strip of patchwork of the other fabrics from the front. Possibly binding it with some fabric from Anna Maria Horner's Good Folks line (since I couldn't imagine trying to bind a quilt with the violle - though I'm sure it is possible. Not to mention that it's a good excuse to buy some Good Folks fabric!
